The 5th Annual Bun Run for the Cure is a 5K/10K Family Run/Walk that takes place in the historic and charming town of Smithville, Texas on Saturday, April 26, 2014. The 10K will begin at 9am, and the 5K will begin at 9:05 am.
After crossing the pink finish line, stay for the AFTER PARTY at Pocket's Grille! Fruit, water, a silent auction, Cuppy Cakes, nail art and polish changes, massage tables, face painting, a prayer net, awards ceremony, a live auction, take pictures in our new funky photo booth, visit educational resources from Komen Austin, and live music! This is an event you WON'T want to miss! Guaranteed. The first year, we raised $4000 for Komen Austin, the second year we raised $9,000 for Komen Austin. The third year we raised $12,000, and LAST year, we raised $20,000!!!! The goal for the 5th Annual race is $30,000! We SO can do this! The money raised goes towards breast cancer awareness/free mammograms for Bastrop County! AND (new to this year), 5 $1000 scholarships are given to high school seniors (of Bastrop/Cedar Creek/Smithville/Elgin/La Grange and Giddings) who have been directly affected by breast cancer!
All race participants who register by April 1st are guaranteed a race shirt. Anyone who registers after that date is NOT guaranteed a shirt. Tell your peeps, because it's super CUTEEEE, and you're gonna want one. Promise. ;)
This is definitely a fun family event! Strollers, bikes, and wagons are allowed. Decorate them! Balloons, streamers, anything you can think of! Dress up!!! I love creativity! The more creative, the better! THINK PINK, EVERYWHERE! ;) Plan your costumes, and outfits now! :) Think bandanas, crazy socks, crazy hair, wigs, tutus, etc.!
